General FAQs
If you have encountered similar problems or have a problem not outlined below, please contact us or telephone us on +44 (0)20 8733 7200 and ask to speak to one of our advisors.
- I cannot visit your office: can you act for me anyway?
- Yes. We have clients from all over the world, across London and the UK, and we provide legal representation in courts and tribunals everywhere in England and Wales. We have the communications systems to provide you with a quality personal service wherever you are. Simply complete the enquiry form on our "Contact Us" page.
- What will it cost me if I instruct you?
- An initial phone call to us will cost you nothing. We always discuss cost with you at the outset, before you commit yourself.
- Our pricing structure ensures that our services are affordable. In many cases, we can agree a fixed fee with you at the outset. We can also tell you whether you qualify for legal aid under the Legal Services Commission's public funding scheme. Having efficient systems and processes means we can undertake our work for you more quickly. This saves you time and money.
- Do you offer a fixed fee interview?
- Yes, in most cases, we can provide an initial consultation for a fixed fee. As well as providing you with a general opinion on your matter, we will discuss costs for handling the matter. In quite a few types of case, we can agree a fixed fee at the outset. In your initial phone call to us (for which, of course, we do not charge), or at our first meeting, we can tell you about costs and whether you can benefit from a fixed fee.
- Do I need an appointment?
- Making an appointment helps ensure that your time is not wasted, so please contact us on +44(0)20 8733 7200 or enquiries@lawrencelupin.co.uk before coming to our office. That will enable us to arrange for the right person to see you.
- Emergencies can be handled, but again, please contact us first, to ensure that we will be able to help.
- Do you handle cases on Legal Aid?
- Yes. Many of our clients rely on legal aid - public funding provided by the Legal Services Commission. We can tell you whether you qualify financially and we can help you complete the forms.
- Do you offer conveyancing services?
- No, this is not one of our specialisms. We can handle the legal work if the purchase of a lease or freehold is part of our work for you as a landlord or tenant. Otherwise, we suggest you look for another law firm using a directory such as the Law Society's "Find a Solicitor" online service.
- What if English is not my first language?
- If English is not your first language, we have staff who are competent in a number of other languages, or we can arrange for interpreters to be present for interviews and meetings. In addition, we can provide you with documentation in your first language. We are happy to do this because we believe it is important that you understand and feel comfortable with everything that is happening.
- What is the difference between solicitors and other advisers?
- As a client of a solicitor's firm, you will benefit from important consumer protection, because solicitors are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. You will be covered by our professional indemnity insurance and the Solicitors Regulation Authority's consumer complaints system, in the unlikely event that our service to you falls below our normal high standards.
- Where else can I obtain help?
- Perhaps your matter is outside the scope of the specialist services we provide - in immigration, employment, and housing. If we are unable to help you, we suggest you look for another law firm using a directory such as the Law Society's "Find a Solicitor" online service, or to find an advice centre or other local organisation, contact Community Legal Service Direct.
